This is Mrs. Hospelhorn making the first weekly
call for the 2012-13 school year. A big
welcome goes out to all new Merwin families.
We have a great school year planned.
I would like to start out with some sad news. Friday we received news that due to small
class numbers in second grade, Ms. Tracey Love was transferred to Clough Pike Elementary. Although we are sad to see
Ms. Love leave Merwin after 9 years, we are thrilled that she
still has a position in West Clermont. Ms. Love’s
smiling face and positive attitude will be missed. All of Ms. Love’s students have been
reassigned to other classrooms.
The transportation meetings were held last week
and less than ½ of our families have picked up their bookbag tags. Remember that you must have tags prior to the
first day of school. If you are planning
to pick them up at Open House, remember that it looks like the lines will be
long. The building is open daily from
7:30am-3:30pm except for our lunch break.
Open House is scheduled for Thursday at 6:00 for
grades KG, 1, and 2. Grades 3, 4, and 5
will be at 7:15. I remind parents of
primary students to leave the lot by 7:00 to allow parking for upper
grades. There will not be a program in the
gym due to the heat. You are welcome to
find the classroom and meet the teacher.
Parents are not permitted to park cars the first day to walk students to
the classroom. We have Open House so
parents can do those things with their
children. We do not have ample parking
to accommodate that on first day. I
appreciate your cooperation.
At Open House there will be several tables in the
breezeway with items of interest from the PTO.
Please make a point to stop by and take advantage of the opportunity to
join Merwin PTO and support activities for the year.
