7th Annual AHS Soccer Camp

Amelia High School's soccer camp for both girls and boys will be held June 13-16.  Students entering the 4th through the 8th grades next fall are eligible to participate.  The deadline for registration is June 2, so for more information please download the Registration Form.

March's Banner Art

This month's banner is a little different than the others have been.  It shows a small detail on a very large art project that was a collaborative effort.

Union Township provided two large, plastic flower pots to Merwin, each roughly 4' tall and 3' across.  Art teacher Mrs. Garrett and some creative first graders decorated the flower pots with stunning spring plants, flowers, and creatures.  They not only used paint, but also various sizes, colors and types of plastic caps and lids. There are even halves of plastic Easter eggs on there!  The Merwin flower pots will be on display along with decorated pots from other West Clermont elementary schools in the spring in the Eastgate shopping area.

Thanks to Mrs. Garrett and to all the first graders who participated in this project!  Your recycled-object art will make our community a little more beautiful!

February's Art Contest Winner

Third grader Maggie Scott's Mustang-wrangling theme is the contest-winning design for February's website banner.  Congratulations, Maggie!

The details of the March banner contest will be released soon.  Any interested and artistic 5th graders should keep their eyes open for it.

January's Art Contest Winner

Congratulations to fourth grader Clay Ness, whose artwork is featured this month in the banner above!  Clay's design depicts actual Merwin students... that are Excellent with Distinction of course!

December's Art Contest Winner

The holiday-themed banner at the top of this site was selected as the art contest winner for the month of December.  Congratulations to artist Priya Patel in Mrs. Davis' fourth grade class!

November's Art Contest Winner

Congratulations to fifth grader Rebecca Michel!  She created the artwork you see in the banner above, which will be featured on this weblog for the month of November.  Fantastic work!

The fourth graders are currently designing their own works of banner-art, and one will be chosen for display throughout December.  Participants should turn in their work to Mrs. Garrett before the end of the school day on Friday, November 12.

You see that banner at the top of this web page?  You know, the one with the collage of images of artwork from last year?  It's not going to look like that much longer.

Imagine seeing YOUR artwork there instead...

We want to showcase the creativity of our talented students at Merwin, and the banner on this weblog is the perfect place to put on an art show.  The fifth graders are up first, with an art contest to select a banner design.

All fifth grade students should have received a packet with all the particulars: an introductory page explaining the rules, a second page of letters to trace if needed, and a third page with a correctly-sized Banner Box to create a masterpiece inside.  If you did not receive the packet or if you need to download a new one, it is available for viewing and/or downloading HERE on our Merwin Online Community. The deadline to submit artwork is this Friday, October 8.  The winning design will be featured on this website for the entire month of November.

Fifth graders, get ready and get creative.  We can't wait to see the show!
