August 2 Update

I hope you are enjoying your summer and are taking time each day to read!

I have some important information for you!  Class lists will be posted in the breezeway at 4:00 PM tomorrow, Friday, August 3rd.  I know you are anxious to see your teacher so you may stop by school at your convenience.  All intra-district transfers have been approved so students should be on a list!

Merwin earned all 10 indicators and are rated EXCELLENT again this year!  I am so proud of our students and staff!  Congratulations!

The 2012 Readyfest West sponsored by the Union Township Kiwanis Club will be held Thursday, August 16, 2012 from 3:00 – 7:00 PM at Glen Este High School.  This is a day when West Clermont K-5 students on the free or reduced lunch program can obtain free school supplies.

**Parents should bring their medical card or proof of income.  You will need to call your case worker if this is a problem.

**You will also need to bring proof of residency in the form of a utility bill or a rental agreement.

**If your child is newly enrolled, you will need to provide proof of enrollment.

Transportation meetings for parents are scheduled for 7:00 PM on August 23rd and 10:00 AM on August 24th.  Only parents of students new to Merwin are required to attend one of the meetings.  All other parents may stop by Merwin to pick up tags any day that the office is open.  If you already know the process, I see no reason for you to sit through the meeting again.  If you can’t come during the day, then come the night of the meeting and you can fill out the paperwork and get your tags! Remember, all students must have new tags prior to the first day of school!

Open House will be August 30th.  Grades K, 1, and 2 will be at 6:00 PM and Grades 3, 4, and 5 will be at 7:15 PM.  This evening is set aside so that children can find their classrooms as parents are not permitted to accompany children to their classrooms on the first day.  We do not have parking to accommodate parents and security requires us to limit access to the building.  By coming to Open House, you can be assured that your child can find the classroom, but we also have several staff available to assist children once they enter the building the first few days of school!
