Weekly Update, October 24

The Kindergarten schedule for this week is: Group A attends M/W/F and Group B attends T/TH.
Monday students will see a short video on School Mall. This is a PTO project that costs NO money and provides income for our school. YOU DO NOT NEED TO BUY ANYTHING. The PTO gets money for each completed book. Just fill in address for family and friends and turn in the booklet. Magazines are available, but it is not necessary to purchase anything. After booklets are completed, just send them back to school. Students receive a small prize for returning the booklets. Last year the PTO earned over $1000 on this project.
Remember that the Principal's Fundraiser ends on Tuesday so turn in all orders. Although checks are payable to Merwin PTO, this is my fundraiser.

This week we will hold Harvest Parties. Harvest Parties for Kindergarten B group will be Thursday from 1:15 to 2:00. All other parties are Friday from 1:15 to 2:00. Parents must have a background check from West Clermont on file at school to volunteer for parties. Also, we do not have room in the classroom for younger siblings. All parents must exit the parking lot by 2:15 to accommodate dismissal. You may sign your children out in the classroom if you assisted with the party.
Also on Thursday students will carry home requests for conferences. This year Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on November 15 and November 21 from 5-8:30. I recommend that you take advantage of this time to talk with your child's teacher. Report cards will go home prior to conference on November 10. Kindergarten teachers will each hold an extra 1/2-day of conferences. Please return your conference request to school as soon as possible.
We are very proud of arrival and dismissal as it is working well for us. Thank you to the parents who have followedour requests as we have been able to complete dismissal by 3:30 each day. As it gets colder, if you wish to trade in your walker/bike rider tags for pick up numbers, we are able to do that for you. Just go to the office. We have at least 20 tardies and early pick ups each day. It is important that your children be in school all day so please do not pick them up early unless they have an appointment. Not wanting to be stuck in traffic is not a valid excuse for leaving school early. If you have a doctor appointment, please bring in a doctor note the following day.
