Weekly Update

Hello Merwin Parents,

This is Mrs. Hospelhorn calling with a reminder that Open House will be held on September 1st at 6:00 PM for grades 1-3 and at 7:15 PM for grades 4 and 5.  Open House for Kindergarten will be held on September 9 at 6:00 PM.

The transportation meetings begin this week.  It is very important that a parent come to one of these meetings because we have bookbag tags that must be handed out for your child.  If your child does not have a bookbag tag for dismissal the first day, teachers will not know where to send him/her.  We will have over 650 students who need to safely move to the correct area at dismissal.  When you come to the meeting, I will explain how everything will work.  Children do not need to come to the meetings and in fact, we will probably be very crowded with parents.  The exception to this will be Monday, August 29th when Officer Doerman will hold a safety class in the Merwin library for students who will be walking or riding a bike to school.  The transportation meetings are:
    Thursday, August 25th at 7:00 PM
    Friday, August 26th at 10:00 AM
    Monday, August 29th at 7:00 PM

Every year the Merwin staff is on pins and needles waiting for the State Report Cards to be released.  Although the final report cards will not be released until August 24th, the preliminary release shows that Merwin is once again EXCELLENT with DISTINCTION!  We earned all 8 indicators and scored above in value added.  Congratulations to our staff and students for another job well done!
