Thanks to everyone who participated in Circus Week last week. We had a great time. The pep rally was a big hit thanks to the Amelia High School marching band and cheerleaders, Paige and Erin, Bob Herzog and John Gumm. We are now ready to show what we know! Testing begins on Tuesday and our school will go into serious mode with quiet hallways and restrooms. We ask that all students be at school on time.
You may have heard that our new Mustang mascot made a surprise visit to the pep rally. For the first few days of this week, we are holding a contest to “Name our Mustang”. Students who would like to enter a name may do so at our website or on paper in the school office.
Specials for the week are: Monday/Blue, Tuesday/Red, Wednesday/Yellow, Thursday/Green, and Friday/Blue.
Monday is our last Merwin Night at Frisch’s Cherry Grove. Please join us as we thank them for the another year of Dessert with the Principal! Also Monday evening the Merwin CFI Team who finished 1st in the region and 6th in the state at Destination Imagination competitions will be recognized at the Board of Education meeting at 7:00.
Tuesday: 3rd and 5th Reading Test
Tuesday evening is the annual Art Fair at Merwin. This year the show has a little twist in that our grade levels will sing for you as you walk through the gym to view our beautiful art work. Each grade level will has been assigned a time to sing a few selections for you. We expect parking to be a concern as the ground is saturated and you are encouraged not to park in the grass. But we still hope you will come and enjoy an evening of fun.
Wednesday: 4th Reading Test
Wednesday @ 6:00 is the Prep Party for the last mile of the Flying Pig at Merwin.
Thursday: 3rd and 5th Math Test
Friday night is a big event for Merwin students. There will be a rally for the levy at the Union Township “Helicopter” Park on Glen Este-Withamsville Road from 5-7. There will be games for the children, lots to eat, and fun for the entire family. My brother, Zak Taylor and I will emcee this fun event. Zak was a Merwin student and graduated from Amelia High and is now a teacher and head football coach at Glen Este High School! Please join us for a fun evening that supports all West Clermont children!
Sunday, May 1, I am in need of assistance from the Merwin community. I will be organizing a literature drop for the afternoon. Please step up and help. The more people we have, the less time it will take. If you are a parent who has little time to volunteer at school during the week, now is your time to get involved. Please call school and leave a contact number! Thank you!
Election Day is May 3 and students will be eating in the classrooms. No lunch visitors will be allowed that day.
As we move into this critical time for our students, I remind you to get involved now!
