Weekly Update

Thank you Merwin PTO for bringing Art Reach Children’s Theater to school last week with the production of Rockin' Peter Rabbit! 

Thank you to Merwin PTO for another great DI season.  Once again we had 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams.   Congratulations to everyone who participated.

Thanks to Mrs. Homan and the 2nd grade for a great performance last Thursday!

Specials for this week are:  Monday/Red, Tuesday/Yellow, Wednesday/Green, Thursday/Blue, Friday/Red.

The Book Fair continues this week.  Classes attending on Monday are: Bossart, Davis, Thompson AM, Noble, Sawyer, Bradburn.

Also Monday evening at 7:00 is the March PTO Meeting.

Tuesday classes visiting the Book Fair are:  Rees, Greer, Blatt, Kuebel, Shebesta.

Wednesday classes visiting the Book Fair are:  Hamilton, Webb, Love, Lemaster, Chandler.

Last week I sent home a letter of invitation to a meeting with Dr. Brooks, our Superintendent on Wednesday evening at 7:00 in the Merwin gym.  He will give a report on the financial status of our district and the proposed cuts.  This meeting is very important to your children and the future of Merwin Elementary.  I encourage you to attend.

Thursday classes visiting the Book Fair are:  Cann, Gabelman, Burnett PM, Thompson PM, Dodds PM.
Thursday evening is your chance to visit the Book Fair with your child from 6-8 in the Merwin Library.  Bring grandparents and enjoy some cookies and punch.

Friday is make-up day at the Book Fair for students who were absent.  Friday is also Spring picture day.  Class pictures will also be taken.  Spring pictures are not paid for until they arrive.

I would like to close with a few important notes. 

Mad Science flyers were carried home by students.  This will be the last session of the year.  This time you may return payment and flyers to school.  Classes begin April 4.

The health aides at Merwin make the calls when students are absent and parents have not reported students absent.  Lately, they have had over 20 students per day where calls need to be made.  Please remember to call into school when your child is out.  That number is 947-7804.  The health aides are needed for sick children and children who need medication at school.

If you know of any children who will attend Merwin Kindergarten next school year, please advise them to register as soon as possible.  At this time we only have 40 children registered which is making it difficult to schedule.  Appointments for registration are available by calling 943-5000.

Last of all, AYAC (Amelia Youth Athletic Club) will hold registration for football and cheerleading at Merwin in the gym on Saturday, March 26 from 10:00-1:00.  Flyers are available in the Merwin office.  Call if you need one!
