Weekly Update

We had a great first week of school! We are excited to start our new Reading program called Reading Street this week in grades 1-5!

Please note that the new Study Island contests have not begun due to new login information that we will send home soon.

We are still teaching lunch room procedures and therefore will not have visitors for lunch. I will let you know when we can accept visitors. We have very limited space this year and will limit visitors to parents and grandparents.

This week’s schedule is: Monday is Red Day; Tuesday is Yellow Day; Wednesday is Green Day; Thursday is Blue Day and Friday is Red Day.

Monday and Wednesday after school Girls on the Run will meet in the library and need pick-up at 4:40.

Tuesday there is an open house for all GT Resource students at 6:00 at WT Elementary.

Wednesday is sign up for dance classes from 4-5. There is also sign-ups on next Wed. from 6:30-8:30.

Friday the picture packets were carried home by students. Pictures will be taken on Thursday this week 9/16. If you wish to purchase pictures, they must be paid for when they are taken. All students must have pictures taken for school records and our yearbook.

Friday is the kick-off for our PTO Walk-a-thon. Students will view a video about the prizes and will bring home pledge sheets. This is the only major fundraiser of the year for the PTO and we use the funds for assemblies and projects all year. We are hoping that all students can participate.

Friday is also Spirit Day and all students are asked to wear their favorite Merwin shirt or Blue which is our school color!

Please keep in mind that there is no school on Friday, September 24 due to teacher in-service.

Remember that you can view the events calendar by signing up on the Merwin website. If you need assistance, we will be holding two help sessions for parents on Sept. 21 at 7:00 and Sept. 27 at 6:00 in our computer labs.
