The Kindergarten schedule for this week is: Group A comes Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Group B comes Tuesday and Thursday.
This is Spirit Week! We are so excited about our events. Each day is designated a race day since our Motto for the week is “Merwin Race to the Top!” In addition, the PTO is providing a special assembly called “The Human Board Game”. All students will attend one of four assemblies where a life sized board game is used for teams of students to compete. On Wednesday the Amelia High School band and cheerleaders will be at Merwin for our annual pep rally. After an exciting week, we will be down to business as our state testing will begin. This year teachers are planning their grade level celebrations! They will notify you about their plans. Here is how the week will go!
Monday is Daytona 500 Day and students will wear sunglasses and visors or hats.
Tuesday is Kentucky Derby Day and students will decorate their favorite hats to dress up for the Derby.
Wednesday is Merwin Spirit Wear/Pep Rally Day and students will wear their favorite Merwin shirts or blue and white.
Thursday is Hawaiian Kayak Race Day and students will wear Hawaiian or colorful shirts and leis.
Friday is Boston Marathon Day and students will wear crazy wild socks, their fastest shoes, and sweatbands.

The Human Board Game schedule is:
Tuesday, 9:15-10:00 – Kdg/B, Blatt, Dean, Love, Cann, Jacobs
Tuesday, 10:05-10:50 – Greer, Orleck and all of 3rd grade
Wednesday, 9:15-10:00 – Gabelman, Noble, Kdg/A, Lemaster, Kuebel
Wednesday, 10:05-10:50 – Webb, Davis, and all of 5th grade
Students carried home report cards on Friday. Please ask for it if you haven’t seen it. Report cards were held for delinquent fees.
Thursday there is a PTO meeting at 7:00 at the Amelia High School Library. We will be voting for the PTO Board for next year. I hope you can join us. Thursday is also Merwin Night at Papa John’s Pizza.
It is very important to plan that students be in school all day every day for OAA prep and then for testing. The testing window is April 23-May 4. I have received a few requests for Take Your Daughter or Son to Work Day on April 26th. Not only is that a testing day, but West Clermont does not excuse absence for that reason. You have three months in the summer to take your child to work. Please select one of those days instead.
This Saturday the annual Merwin PTO Mother Daughter Tea is scheduled at Receptions from 10 to noon.
Good luck to all Merwin Destination ImagiNation teams that travel to the state tournament on Saturday as well! There was a great article that is a must read in the Community Journal last week about the Merwin teams.
Last of all, Teacher Appreciation Week is coming up April 23rd. We are very fortunate to have a wonderful staff at Merwin. The PTO is asking that you assist your children in writing a special note to their teacher and send it to the office. The PTO will make sure teachers get the notes during our special week. If you are willing to assist in teacher treats for that week, please call Mrs. Ogden who will get your contact information to Heather Buhler, chairperson.
