Weekly Update, January 8

The Kindergarten schedule for this week is:  Group A attends Monday and Wednesday and Group B attends Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.

This week is winter DIBELS assessments for all Merwin students.  This assessment provides us with student progress data that is used for skills groups.  It is important that all students be in school each day. 

COSI is coming to Merwin on Thursday and Friday.  We will not accept visitors for lunch on those days as students will eat in their classrooms.  It will help if students pack lunch on those days, however, lunch will be available in the cafeteria.  We are still in need of several volunteers for both days.  There is also a team need to unload the truck and set up at 7:00 on Wednesday evening.  Please contact school at 947-7800 if you can help. 

The January Mustang Messenger will be carried home with students on Wednesday for KG A and everyone else on Thursday.  It will be available on Big Tent for parent members.  With the newsletter will be the request for conference form for the last conferences of the year (also available online).  Please take the time to fill out the request and return it to the homeroom teacher.

Thursday there is a PTO Meeting at 7:00 in the Library at Amelia High School.  I hope you can join us.

Did you purchase a Cincinnati Enquirer today?  If you did, we were notified that there is a 100 point bonus collection sheet for Campbell’s Labels for Education the paper today!  If you find the collection sheet, fill it out and return it to school, we could end up lots of points.  I have asked for some new balls for the playground as many of the ones we are using will not hold air.

Parents are reminded that students are not permitted to bring electronic games, cell phones, or toys to school.  We are having issues in the first grade with students bringing Bleyblades to school and expecting us to find them when they are lost or stolen.  Please note that we do not have time to track down toys and therefore ask that they not be brought to school.

Next week on Monday, January 16, there is no school in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.  I will still call on Sunday.  Have a great week!
