Weekly Update

Kindergarten for this week:  Group A will come Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.  Group B will come Tuesday and Thursday.

Students in grades 3, 4, 5 carried home their Progress Book login information.  Please make sure to put it in a safe place.

This week we will begin mandated DIBELS assessments for all Merwin students. 

Please remember to call the attendance line at 947-7804 before 10:00 if your child is absent from school.  You will need to tell the reason for the absence.  If students are absent more than one day, you will need to call each day.

The PTO is organizing volunteers to run off copies for teachers.  If you can volunteer a few hours a week, please contact Jenny Pera at 752-1212.

Monday is picture day for Kindergarten Group A and everyone who missed pictures last Thursday.  Remember that payment is necessary when pictures are taken.  Checks are accepted made out to Lifetouch.

Remember that Fit-a-thon money is due on Friday this week.

Don't forget that breakfast is available at school now. 

I have also been ask to remind you to renew your membership on the Merwin Online Community or join if you haven't done that yet.

One last request about dismissal:  I tried to anticipate all scenarios when I made the dismissal plan and things were beginning to work well until parents started showing up in the office to pick up children at dismissal.  That really stops the process and we are not permitted to dismiss until the 3:00 bell.  If you want to pick up your child at dismissal, it will really help if you send a note telling that the student will be a walker.  The student will be given a walker pass for the day and you can meet your child at the 4th grade wing exit.  You won't have to sign anything or have the struggle with so many people in the office.  Please try this if you need to pick up your child and cannot wait in the car line.  Also thanks for your kind words and treats for the staff.  It keeps us going.  Teachers are not trained for parking lot duty so we have to learn on the job!
